Playing Media on HDTVs using A Media Player, Flash Drive or SD Card

EnlightenMental Productions recently created High Definition graphics to be used as “slides” on a HDTV for a local restaurant in the Mall Of America. The problem we ran into, is while the HDTV itself had a SD card slot for playing media (digital photos, videos, audio files, etc) the HDTV was extremely picky about the format the media could be set to and still play correctly.

We now know that HDTVs , Media Players, etc do not like Progressive scan images and require baseline files to play correctly and show at its highest resolution.

If you’re creating high resolution graphics in photoshop that will be played on an HDTV using either a flash drive, SD card or media player make sure you save as a Baseline JPG.

In the future, Media Players may support progressive scan images, but for now, they do not.
